WHAT IS A SALT LAMP?

Have you ever heard of a salt lamp? This handy little device to have in your home can do some pretty magical things to the air around you. The air quality might need a little attention in your house, especially if you live in a high allergy environment or have a few pets running around. Either way a salt lamp can improve the air to make it easier to breathe. If you have seasonal allergies, asthma, or even more serious illnesses like COPD, it might be time to explore what a salt lamp can do for you. At the Salt Suite we take salt therapy pretty seriously, so in addition to coming to our salt rooms regularly for halotherapy, having one of these lamps in your home is very beneficial to your entire family.

What kind of Salt is it Made Of?

Salt Lamps are usually made of large lumps of Himalayan Sea Salt. They can vary widely in size and shape due to this natural substance. This special type of salt is not only beautiful, but purposeful as well. It looks like a large crystal formation of salt that is pink or reddish in color.

The Benefits Of A Salt Lamp

The lamps themselves emit a calming color and charge that purifies and ionizes the air. This includes pollution based particles from things like cigarette smoke, pet odors, and other unhealthy air quality problems. Sometimes allergens like ragweed and pollen get into the house from your shoes and get trapped into your carpets or flooring. This can affect the air quality directly in your living space. Plus, the air ducts can build up with dust and other debris coming on and off all day blowing particles into your air through the heating and cooling systems. All of this together makes an impact on the air your breathe.

By having salt lamps in place, you are counteracting all the bad air. Most of these special lamps also have different settings, so you can turn down the light coming out of the lamp from dim to bright. You’ll find that once you have a few around your home, they truly improve the mood and air around you.

Be sure to pick one up at The Salt Suite next time you are there:)

“During a typical adult session customers put their feet up in a comfortable leather chair rest or read and breathe in a dry salt aerosol. The micro particles are blown in the air by halo generators. In our separate children’s room kids play in a big sand box except with salt on the walls and floor and play while breathing in the dry salt air.”
